Amber Canto is the Director for the Extension Institute for Health & Well-Being. In her role, she provides administrative and programmatic leadership for community-based health promotion programs across multiple issue areas including healthy eating, active living and behavioral health throughout the lifespan. Amber’s prior Extension experiences includes serving as the FoodWIse State Program Coordinator and Poverty & Food Security Specialist with University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension.
Before joining Extension in 2011, Amber worked as a nutrition consultant for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the Dominican Republic, where she coordinated infant and young child feeding interventions along the Haitian-Dominican border. She holds a Master of Public Health & Global Health Certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Spanish from UW-Madison.
